ESYC Hoops Highlight: Talek Williams

They call him “Real”, simply because this young baller is THE TRUTH. He never fails to leave his mark on whatever court he plays. In this ESYC Hoops Highlight we salute Talek Williams!

Face Off MVP

Face Off MVP

Having played for the  ESYC Elite National AAU team  since its inception, Talek has helped lead the team to numerous Championships.  Talek is nothing short of a show-stopper — whose combined speed, strength, and  overall work ethic has distinguished him among the Elite basketball players in the Lehigh Valley and beyond.

A recent middle school graduate (June 2013), Talek will no longer be playing in local middle school Travel leagues and is now named among the greats of ESYC Basketball Alumni. However, ESYC has not seen the last of Talek, for he recently returned to help lead Skills & Drills sessions at the ESYC — as the newest member of one of the leading High School Varsity teams in the area, Bethlehem Catholic.  Congratulations Talek!

Talek Williams and Mom

Talek Williams and Mom, Nita Benton

There is no bigger fan and supporter for Talek than his mom, Nita Benton.  “I love the intensity of the game, and the life lessons that the game itself teaches the players”.  You’ll often see her standing by Talek and his teammates — whether it’s heading the ESYC concession stand, or suited up in sports gear displaying Talek’s name during games.

Talek “Real” found his passion and commitment to the game of basketball at the early age of 6 after joining the Cambria Heights (New York) Basketball League.  Since then he as built a strong work ethic, working out four times a week — including strength conditioning. Aside from his great performance on the Court, Talek works just as hard in the classroom, and stands by his motto, “ASAP: always striving and prospering”. His favorite subject is Social studies, and he plans on pursuing a law degree.

We will miss you as an ESYC player, Talek, but know that your success will continue. ALL THE BEST TO YOU!
